Beyond BusyWork: Meaningful Math Centers

Description: Too often, math centers are used to keep students busy rather than build understanding. This session challenges that norm and equips educators to design intentional, standards-aligned centers that truly support student learning. Participants will engage in hands-on games and activities while using the Center Analysis Guide to reflect on what makes a center high quality. Educators will also explore how organization, routines, and clear procedures can make or break a center’s success—and how to establish structures that support student independence. Whether choosing new centers or refining existing ones, educators will leave with tools, insights, and inspiration to ensure every center counts.
