Meet the Mind Behind the Math
Math has always been a central part of who I am—even as a student, I saved my math homework for last because I genuinely enjoyed the challenge. My career began in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, as a computer teacher, but I quickly recognized that my true passion was mathematics education.
That passion grew into a career dedicated to helping teachers and schools strengthen math instruction in meaningful ways.
I believe the most meaningful learning occurs when students are active participants rather than passive recipients. This belief guides my work as I support the development of classrooms where students engage deeply with mathematical ideas, build understanding, and make sense of the content—rather than simply memorizing procedures.
Through Coaching That Counts, I work with educators across the country to bring clarity, confidence, and coherence to math instruction.
My goal is simple: to help teachers move beyond memorization and procedures so students can truly make sense of mathematics.
A Career That Just Keeps Adding Up
My career began in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where I started as a computer teacher. But it didn’t take long to realize that math was where my heart—and my impact—really belonged.
Since then, I’ve worked as:
-
A middle school math teacher
-
An elementary math coach
-
A K–12 math consultant supporting districts nationwide
Today, I partner with schools and districts to help teachers deepen their understanding of math standards, strengthen instructional practices, and build classroom structures that position students as active participants in learning. I also offer free weekly professional learning to support this work.
While I support schools across the country, I am based in New Jersey and remain deeply committed to strengthening math education for students throughout my home state.
